**You are required to return the motorhome with a clean interior, otherwise a fee of up to € 116 will be charged. The toilet and waste water tanks have to be totally emptied by the time you drop off the vehicle, otherwise € 165 will be charged and further fees apply to cover the costs of emptying the waste water tank.

- 5% for hires of 21 days or more
You can use the following link to do your online check-in in advance. Fill out your details required for your rental agreement at your leisure and send these to McRent online. The rental company can then prepare your rental agreement in advance of your arrival.
https://www.mcrent.de/speed/login.jsp
You will require the McRent confirmation number in order to complete the online form. You can find this number on your invoice/booking confirmation or travel documents.
When calculating the total price all rental days are added up according to the number of days that fall within each 'season'. The pick-up and drop-off days are counted as one day in total as long as the sum of these two days does not exceed 24 hours, i.e. the rates are counted on a nightly basis in the same way that hotels do this. Every night is charged according to the season that applies to that night.
The cancellation fees apply as stated in Motorhome Bookers' booking conditions.
If the vehicle is collected later than the pick-up day booked, or returned earlier than booked no refunds will be provided.
- Petrol or diesel, propane gas (except for the first fill)
- operating costs (additional oil, water, etc)

- Transfers
- Any potential parking costs if a private vehicle is parked at the rental company depot
The following extras need to be reserved in advance when you book your motorhome, pending availability.
All items are property of McRent and must be returned with the vehicle at drop-off time.
You can see the prices and select these items during the online quote / booking process on our website.
- Bedding set (per person): duvet, pillow, pillow case, sheet
- Towel set (per person): 1 bath towel, hand towel and tea towel
- Camping set (per vehicle): 1 fold-up table & up to 4 fold-up chairs
- Child / Booster seat (per vehicle)
- Bike rack (per vehicle)*
- Snow chains (per vehicle)
- GPS Navigation System (per day)**
*Bike racks are free of charge but can only be guaranteed if requested at the time the motorhome booking is made. Bike racks are not suitable for E-Bikes.
**GPS can be hired for a daily fee of € 9 (to a maximum of € 90). Please note that you will have to pay an additional deposit of € 261 at vehicle pick-up.
Above items can also be rented and paid for directly when you pick up the vehicle. However, there is no guarantee that they will be available at that late stage.
All rental rates include third party vehicle insurance with cover up to a maximum of € 600,000 for damage to third party vehicles as well as separate vehicle insurance for damage caused by the renter to the rental vehicle. The excess that applies to any vehicle damage (damaged caused to the vehicle by the renter) is limited to € 750.
For any damage resulting from hail, break-ins, accidents with animals, windscreen damage, etc (i.e. 'external influence' or 'freak' damage excluding damage caused by other people to the rental vehicle) the excess is limited to € 750. Any damage to the tyres or the underbody of the vehicle is not insured and must be paid for by the renter.
The general regulations governing insurance in Spain apply as the foundation for this insurance policy. There are no additional insurance options available to reduce or waive the excess. The excess applies to each incident and will be charged separately if more than one incident occurs.
If an accident occurs with another vehicle or the driver of another vehicle flees the scene, the renter is liable up to the limit of the excess. The excess is deducted in the first instance - regardless of who is at fault.
The excess is deducted separately for each individual incident within the upper limit.
It is reimbursed as soon as the rental company receives any damage payments from a third party, which can take some time.
You are required to provide a deposit of € 750 (to cover the excess) when you pick up the vehicle and this can only be done with a credit card (Visa and Mastercard only - prepaid credit cards are not accepted). You will not be able to pick up your motorhome unless you present a valid credit card.
The deposit is deducted from the credit card at pick-up and if the vehicle is returned in good condition it will be credited back. All credit card deductions are processed in Euros. Neither the rental company nor the tour operator is liable to pay any cost differences that occur between the cost of the deducted bond and the reimbursement which result from foreign exchange fluctuations or external fees.
Please ensure you have adequate available credit on your credit card
If you have reserved a GPS at time of booking, you will have to pay an additional deposit of € 261 for the GPS unit.
The deposit is reimbursed in entirety by McRent as long as the motorhome is returned with full fuel tanks, clean and undamaged. The rental company reserves the right to charge fees for any damage, necessary cleaning fees, a late drop-off and fines incurred during the rental period, etc. These fees are deducted from the credit card in arrears.
All insurance cover is null and void if the terms of the McRent Spain rental agreement are breached. Any damage that is caused when the renter acts outside of the rental company conditions is not covered by the insurance.
Any water and/or saltwater related damage where the renter is at fault is not covered by the insurance. The insurance does not cover damage in the case of any vehicle submersion, the vehicle being stranded in a water area, driving through causeways or beach driving.
Any personal property that is damaged or stolen during an accident, vandalism or a theft is not insured. Private insurance should be purchased in your home country to cover any such issues. In order to avoid theft of personal items from the vehicle it is advised not to leave any valuable items in the vehicle.
The insurance does not cover damage in the following cases:
- activities that are in breach of the rental agreement conditions, e.g. driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol or dangerous driving (especially with regard to trailers and camping appendages)
In the following cases the renter is liable for the full amount of damage caused either to the rented vehicle or to the property of a third party involved:
- damage caused by the use of the wrong fuel or when water or oil, etc are not topped up to minimum required levels (causing overheating, frost damage, etc) or where warning signals in the vehicle are ignored
- costs that arise for towing and recovery of vehicles that have been stranded or submerged as a result of the driver's negligence.
- repairs and towing costs that are incurred because of driving on restricted roads or areas
- if the vehicle is used for towing of other vehicles or trailers
- glass damage (e.g. the windscreen, lights or other glass)
- tyre damage that is not a result of faults in the welding
- costs for vehicle keys that have either been lost or locked in the vehicle
- if people drive the car who have not been registered in the rental agreement
- personal property that is damaged in an accident or is either stolen or damaged during theft is not insured
- if damage is caused as a result of other people using the vehicle without the permission of the rental company there is also no insurance cover
- if the maximum number of passengers is exceeded
The renter is liable for any fees, costs, fines or penalties that occur during his/her use of the rental vehicle unless any such costs that have taken place are the fault of the rental company.
If speeding tickets and parking fines and/or accidents, etc (e.g. that have not been mentioned to the rental company) come to light the rental company reserves the right to invoice the customer for these costs in arrears as well as a processing fee or charge their credit card.
The insurance options offered by the rental company do not include luggage insurance, nor do they include cover for any damage to passengers. It is therefore recommended to obtain travel insurance that covers accidents, sickness and loss of luggage prior to departure.
All drivers must have held their driving licence for a minimum of 2 years for the respective vehicle category being booked. Drivers from outside the EU who have NO European Driving Licence (such as Australian, New Zealand, American and Canadian licence holders etc.) MUST present an international driving licence at pick-up along with their original national driving licence. Drivers from the EU with a European Driving Licence will only need to present their original national driving licence. We suggest you get in contact with the respective authority for that country before travelling.
Important note for UK licence holders:
From 08 Jun 15, the paper counterpart to the photocard UK driving licence will not be valid and no longer be issued by DVLA. Due to insurance reasons, the rental company requires the information formerly listed on the paper counterpart. You can check your details online www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence no more than 3 days before collection, print a copy of your counterpart and bring it with you when you pick up your vehicle.
UK/EU Category B licences as well as most standard licences of most countries are valid for driving the following vehicles (vehicle weight below 3,500 kg / 3.5 t incl. Contents and passengers).
- Urban Standard, Plus, Luxury models
- Compact Plus, Luxury models
- Family Standard, Plus, Luxury models
- Comfort Luxury models
If in doubt, if you have a non-UK/EU licence or you have an EU category B licence and are unsure about anything regarding total weights please just give us a call or send us an email to check which specifications are present in the vehicle you wish to book.
For UK travellers: If you passed your driving test prior to 01/01/1997 (when new standardised European Union driving license categories were introduced) and still have those driving permissions entered in your driving license you will be allowed to drive up to a total weight of approx. 7,500kg. This information is provided after discussion with the DVLA but please note that we cannot be held responsible for the accuracy of their statements.
Some standard Australian driving licenses allow you to drive vehicles up to 4.5 tons so please have a close look at your national license to make sure your licence works within the parameters of your preferred vehicle.
If in doubt, if you have a non-UK/EU licence or you have an EU category B license and are unsure about anything regarding total weights please just give us a call or send us an email to check which specifications are present in the vehicle you wish to book.

There are no additional costs for registering additional drivers.
Anyone wishing to drive the motorhome must have their details entered in the rental agreement.
The renter is required to provide the names and addresses of any drivers (even if they only drive the vehicle briefly) to the rental company. The renter is responsible and liable for the actions of any of the other registered drivers.

The vehicles are only permitted for use on sealed, public, official roads. You can drive your motorhome within Europe at no extra cost.
You are allowed to travel in the following countries without prior permission of the rental company: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
If you wish to drive to Eastern European or Non-European countries you are required to obtain prior approval from the rental company (please inform them of this intention when you make your booking) and you will be required to purchase a special insurance option in these cases. You will then be required to accept certain conditions and provide your signature accordingly (e.g. that you will only park the vehicle at locations with video surveillance, etc).
You cannot - even if you have any kind of additional insurance - take a McRent motorhome to Northern Africa or to the Asian areas of Russia east of the Ural.
It is forbidden to drive the motorhome to any country in a state of war or in another crisis.
Anyone who drives on unsealed or prohibited stretches of road or to forbidden areas or countries does so at his/her own risk. The renter is liable for any costs of repairs, retrieval or towing that are a result of break-downs or accidents in these areas and no insurance cover is provided. One-way rentals (vehicle pick-up at location 'A' and drop-off at location 'B') are not available.
All of the rental vehicles (except for the categories 'Urban Plus', 'Urban Luxury' and 'Compact Luxury') can handle winter conditions, i.e. they are built with a reinforced floor, etc. You can also order snow chains for a fee when you make your booking. In the winter months the facilities such as shower, toilet, etc can be used.
Please note, however, that there is no insurance cover provided if any damage occurs as a result of freezing, etc, e.g. if you do not maintain a high enough average temperature in the vehicle to avoid damage to tanks, water heating apparatus and hosing this will count as negligence and there is no insurance cover then provided, i.e. the renter will be fully liable to cover all costs incurred.
Please allow for the fact - when planning out your route, that camping grounds in certain areas may close during the winter. Some roads, especially in alpine areas may also be closed for driving or may be simply too dangerous to drive on.
If it is likely that the temperature will approach zero degrees celsius during your hire McRent reserves the right to insist on winter profile tyres being used even if you have not prebooked/prepaid them.

If it is not returned at the booked depot or at the agreed time McRent will charge € 30 per hour up to a the limit of one rental day for each late day. The rental company reserves the right to charge the renter for any loss of revenue incurred as a result of such delays in the return of the motorhome, e.g. if another customer is made to wait or miss out on their vehicle due to this delay.
The rental company does not allow a renter to effectively alter the rental agreement by extended use of a vehicle beyond the booked drop-off date.
The renter will be charged for all costs and fees as recorded in the rental conditions (as well as any loss of revenue resulting from the vehicle being out of action) if the vehicle is returned damaged.
You are required to return the motorhome with a clean interior, otherwise a fee of up to € 116 will be charged. The toilet and waste water tanks have to be totally emptied by the time you drop off the vehicle, otherwise € 165 will be charged per container for McRent to do this for you + additional fees for emptying the waste water tanks.
The vehicle also needs to be returned with a full tank of fuel, otherwise McRent will charge € 2 per litre of diesel to top it up (incl. Processing fee). The gas bottles do not have to be returned full.
McRent does not pay for transfers from or to the depots and no refunds for taxi rides are provided.
In Almeria, Barcelona, Madrid and San Sebastian (Airport Bilbao) you have the option of arranging transfer service between the airport and depot through us. You can see the price during the online quote / booking process. This fee is bookable and payable in advance to Motorhome Bookers during the booking process. Please inform us of your flight arrival details if you are interested in having a transfer provided.
The vehicles are no older than 3 years and McRent will make every effort to ensure that the booked vehicle model is provided. However, it reserves the right, if due to unforeseen circumstances it has to provide a different vehicle if the model booked is not available or has been damaged by a previous renter. No additional rental costs will be charged in this case. If McRent is forced to provide you with a smaller vehicle than the one you have booked they will reimburse the difference. Any additional costs such as higher petrol costs, tolls or ferry costs, etc will not be reimbursed. This does not allow you to cancel the booking.
NOTE: You will be guaranteed a vehicle from a certain category but not of any specific size, make, colour or design. Even though vehicles within a category have similar equipment, the design, size, measurements and floor plan (e.g. bed sizes or interior features, etc) may differ slightly within any given vehicle category.
All measurements and size indications are approximate values and are based on the information provided to us by the rental company. We cannot accept responsibility for any mistakes or human error in the provision of these details.
Information relating to the above which we provide on our website can be altered at any time without prior notice.
In the event of an accident, breakdown or technical difficulties (including problems with tyres) you are required to inform the rental company, the McRent partner or the nearest 'Dethleffs' office immediately. If you have a problem outside of the McRent opening hours just call the service number which can be found in the vehicle documents. An emergency phone line provided by the vehicle manufacturer along with the Fiat breakdown cover and service guarantee are all included in the rental rates.
All McRent vehicles undergo strict quality control. However, problems can still occur from time to time. Please note: Small repairs or necessary expenses that are necessary to ensure the smooth running and upkeep of the vehicle that cost up to € 150 can be ordered by the hirer and will be
reimbursed to you at vehicle drop-off time. However, you do have to communicate with the rental company before the repairs take place. For repairs that will cost more than € 150 you are always required to inform the rental company before repairs take place in order to obtain their approval to proceed (otherwise no reimbursements can be provided). Any repairs can only be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt as well as the replaced parts (where applicable).
If you have an accident, there is a fire or theft or you hit a wild animal, etc the police and the rental company need to be contacted immediately and any third party demands should not to be agreed to. In an accident the police report must include the name and address of the people involved as well as any witnesses along with the vehicle registration details of any vehicles involved. Even in the case of minor damage the renter is required to provide McRent with a detailed written report and a sketch outlining the situation.
