Save up to 30% with Budget Vehicles!
If booking a Meridian Budget Vehicle you allow the rental company the flexibility to allocate you a vehicle type the day you actually pick it up. This means, that no specific vehicle will be confirmed to you at time of booking but you have the opportunity to receive a discount of up to 30% compared to the vehicle types of the same category.
There are 2 vehicle groups you can choose from, which are each made up of different vehicle categories.
Budget 1 (suitable for up to 2 adults which could be a B-Class or C-Medium) or Budget 2 (suitable for up to 3 adults and 2 children which could be a C-Large or C-XLarge).
Please note that families with children are not allowed to book Budget 1 because baby/child seats cannot be installed to B-Class vehicles.
For further details, please refer to the paragraph 'Guaranteed Model or Vehicle Category' in the section 'Pick-up/Drop-off'.
The varying standard seasonal rates are used as the basis for the rental cost calculation.
Pick-up and drop-off days are counted as one day in total, i.e. each rental night is used for the price calculation in the same way that hotels do this. The nights will be calculated according to the price applicable for the 'season' in which the nights fall.
The cancellation fees apply as stated in Motorhome Bookers' booking conditions.
If the vehicle is collected later than the pick-up day booked, or returned earlier than booked, no refunds will be provided.

Public liability insurance
Public liability insurance with an upper limit of CA$ 5 million is included in the daily rental rate. This covers claims made against the rental company or the renter with respect to damages to third parties and/or their property. Passengers are also counted as third parties and the driver is therefore insured for claims brought forward against him/herself by them.
CDR insurance
The CDR insurance is included in the daily rental rates and reduces the excess required for damage to the rental vehicle to CA$ 1,500 per incident.
There is no insurance cover at all for damages to the interior of the vehicle, to the awning and slide-outs, for damages due to activities that are in breach of the rental agreement conditions, negligence of the renter, or rough handling.
In case of an incident/damage please make absolutely sure to inform Meridian RV and the police within 24 hours if not all insurance cover is null and void. Please see section 'Insurance Exclusions' below.

You are required to provide a deposit of CA$ 750. Meridian RV will deduct the deposit from your credit card when you pick up the vehicle. It is necessary to have a valid credit card (Master Card or Visa Card only) for this reason which has to be still valid 6 months after the drop-off date.
The deposit will be deducted from your credit card at time of pick-up. As long as the rental vehicle is returned on time, un-damaged, clean on the inside and outside, with all equipment as provided at pick-up time, empty waste water tanks and a full tank of fuel, the deposits will be returned in their entirety. Neither Meridian RV nor Motorhome Bookers are responsible for any money lost due to currency fluctuations.
Please ensure you have sufficient credit available on your credit card.
The excess - in the form of the deposit - is always banked in the first instance, regardless of who is at fault and what is owed to the rental company by the renter. The excess is refunded as soon as the rental company receives a payment from a third party (which can take quite a while in some cases). A separate excess is deducted every time an accident occurs.
The rental company will charge an administrative fee of CA$ 100 per incident.
All insurance cover is null and void if the terms of the Meridian RV rental agreement are breached. Any damage that is caused when the renter acts outside of the rental company conditions is not covered by the insurance.
Any water and/or saltwater related damage where the renter is at fault is not covered by the insurance. The insurance does not cover damage in the case of vehicle submersion, the vehicle being stranded in a water area, damage resulting from driving through causeways or beach driving.
Any personal property that is damaged or stolen is not insured. As well, personal injuries are not insured. Private insurance should be purchased in your home country to cover any such issues. In order to avoid theft of personal items from the vehicle it is advised not to leave any valuable items in the vehicle.
In the following cases the renter is liable for the full amount of damage caused to the rented vehicle and third-party property, i.e. no insurance cover whatsoever is provided:
- damage to awnings and suspension
- damage to slide-outs
- damage to the interior of the vehicle
- water/saltwater-related damage
- damage caused by the use of the wrong fuel or when water, oil, or other fluids are not topped up to minimum required levels (causing overheating, frost damage, etc)
- damage from failure to maintain proper tyre pressure, misuse of brakes (overheating) or where warning signals in the vehicle are ignored
- costs that arise for towing and recovery of vehicles that have been stranded or submerged as a result of the driver's actions
- repairs and towing costs that are incurred because of driving on restricted roads or areas
- damage caused by accidents which have not been reported to the police immediately by the renter
- if damage is caused as a result of people using the vehicle without the permission of the rental company (not registered in rental agreement)
- if more passengers are in the car than the maximum number allowed
- if any member of the rental party deliberately damages any part of the vehicle
- activities that are in breach of the rental agreement conditions, e.g. driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol or dangerous driving, driving without driver licence or under 21 years of age etc.)
- damage from overheating the brakes or clutch
Meridian RV does not alllow the vehicle to be left unattended by the renter in the city of Montreal, Quebec and Ottawa. The renter will be liable for all costs in case of theft and/or damage due to vandalism and hit & run. The insurance cover will be null and void.
The renter is liable for any fees, costs, fines or penalties that occur during his/her use of the rental vehicle unless any such costs that have taken place are the fault of the rental company.
Where speeding tickets and parking fines and/or accidents (that have not been mentioned to the rental company) come to light the rental company reserves the right to charge the client's credit card for the amount owed plus administration fee.
The insurance options offered by the rental company do not include luggage insurance, nor do they include cover for any damage to the driver or passengers. It is therefore recommended to obtain travel insurance that covers accidents, sickness and loss of luggage prior to departure.
A valid UK, European, Australian or New Zealand driving licence is accepted for use in with the Meridian RV rental vehicles in Canada as long as the details are also provided in English. If the licence does not also provide information in English, an international driving licence is then required in conjunction with the original.
The minimum age for registered drivers is 25 years (21-24 years if the main driver is at least 25 years old); the maximum age is 75 years.
1 additional driver can be registered at pick-up time at no extra charge (max. 2 drivers in total). Anyone wanting to drive the motorhome must have their details entered in the rental agreement at pick-up. Additional driver fees will be charged at CA$ 10 per rental day.
Before you can collect your vehicle you are required to present a valid driving licence, credit card (compulsory!), your passport as well as the Motorhome Bookers voucher at the depot.
The Minimum Hire period is 7 days. With the All Inclusive Option it is 14 days.
The Maximum Hire period is 30 days.
Please note carefully the maximum number of passengers allowed per vehicle as per the details provided when you click on the picture of your vehicle and find the vehicle specifications in the Meridian section on our website.

*Bikes are standard unisex road bikes, not mountain bikes. Please note that bike helmets are required in some areas and are not provided by Meridian.
** Bike racks are mandatory. No bikes can be sored in motorhomes or in outside compartments.
In Canada, wearing a seatbelt is mandatory.
Babies under 1 year of age or weighing less than 9 kg are required to be seated in a rear-facing baby seat that is securely fastened.
Children from the age of 1 year weighing between 9 kg and 18 kg must use a forward-facing child seat, secured with a lap belt and tether.
Children under 9 years weighing over 18 kg or 145 cm tall must use a booster seat.
No child seat is required if the child is at least 9 years old or over 145 cm tall.
Please note: Only forward-facing child seats can be safely installed in Meridian RV motorhomes. Rear-facing baby seats or booster seats cannot be safely installed and therefore are not permitted which means that travelling with babies under 1 year of age or weighing less than 9 kg is not allowed. Please therefore choose another rental company.
Most of the Meridian Motorhomes (except for B-class) come equipped with lap belts and one tether with which to secure child seats. That is why families with children cannot book Budget 1 vehicles. Please inform us about age and weight of your child during the booking process.
For more detailed information on the requirements of each province / territory, please refer to Safe Kids Canada.
It is not permitted to drive on forest roads or paths or other non-public terrain.
You are not permitted to travel to:
- the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Alaska, British Columbia north of Highways 16 and 97 (North of Prince Rupert, Prince George and Fort St. John)
- Mexico
- Death Valley, California, between 01 Jun and 31 Aug
- any outdoor festival, events or concerts (incl. Burning Man)
- Parking the vehicle within city limits of Montreal and Ottawa or leaving them unattended in these cities. If you do so, all insurance will be null and void and the renter will be held fully liable for theft or damage due to vandalism or hit & run.
Insurance coverage and the Limited Risk ‘CDR’ Plan are void if travelling in restricted areas without authorization, and the renter would be subject to a CA$ $2,000 penalty. All repairs, damages and delays caused by mechanical breakdowns in restricted areas are the responsibility of the renter.
One-way rentals (vehicle pick-up at location 'A' and drop-off at location 'B') are not possible.
Please note that the renter is liable for any damage to the vehicle resulting from frost, exposure to the cold, freezing of the tanks, warm water tanks and connections and damage such as this is not covered by the insurance.
If it is likely that you will experience temperature levels below zero, all connections such as water and chemical tanks should be emptied. If frost temperatures are expected the rental depot will have already winterised the vehicle by emptying the water to avoid freezing, etc prior to your pick-up date. Winterised, by definition, means that the water has to be emptied out of all water tanks. Following this it is not permitted to pour any more water into the fresh water tank and none of the water connections can be used any more. No water in the vehicle is available for use.
The renter is then required to purchase his/her own bottled water (e.g. drinking water) and to cover these costs him/herself.
The basins, sink, showers and toilets can no longer be used. However, the toilet can be partially flushed as long as only the windscreen wiper anti-frost fluid is used. If there is a heavy frost the toilet should not even be flushed like this and you will need to use public toilets.
The renter bears all responsibility for ensuring the vehicle remains winterised and for returning the vehicle in this state if the vehicle was collected in a warmer region such that the vehicle was not winterised or if this state is altered during the rental period. If the renter does not adhere to these guidelines - regardless of what weather conditions are present at drop-off time, a fee will be charged and the bond will be withheld until the vehicle is again winterised by a specialist and returned to the rental company.
The renter will be held responsible for any costs resulting from the vehicle being damaged such as when the tanks, engine elements and pipes are damaged due to freezing, frost, etc. In such cases there is no insurance cover. Please allow for the fact - when planning out your route, that camping grounds in certain areas may close during the winter. Some roads, especially in alpine areas may also be closed for driving or may be simply too dangerous to drive on.

If returning the vehicle later a fee of CA$ 100 per hour will be charged and the transfer to the airport will also be cancelled!
There will be no refund provided if the vehicle is returned earlier than the date and time booked.
You are required to return the motorhome on time, undamaged, with a clean interior, with a full fuel tank, and the toilet and waste water tanks emptied, otherwise Fraserway will charge fees to rectify the situation. For further details please refer to the section 'Miscellaneous' and 'Post-hire Cleaning' below.
If your returning flight departs in the morning we strongly recommend that you book your motorhome such that you drop it off the day before you depart and spend a night in a hotel (or similar).
Transfers from/to airport hotels and downtown hotels are not included in the standard rental rates. Transfers from/to hostels, private residences etc. are not possible. Please find a transfer hotel list here.
Transfers to the rental depot take place between 0900hrs and 1400hrs. Any customer that misses their shuttle has to make their own way to the depot.
After drop- off, the Meridian shuttle will transfer customers to either the airport, or a downtown or airport hotel. The shuttle departs Meridian RV at 1030hrs, so customers on early flights will have to arrange their own transportation to the airport.
Please note: For the transfer no child seats are provided by Meridian RV. No transfers will be provided for bikes (or bikes in carrying cases), snow boards, large equipment or oversized luggage.
If booking the All Inclusive Option transfers are already included in the rental rates.
All of the high-quality motorhomes of Meridian RV are model year between 2019-2021 but that means that the chassis year of a 2019 model will be in 2018.
Budget Vehicles:
The vehicles of the Budget category are up to 4 years old and in a very good condition!
There are 2 vehicle groups you can choose from, which are each made up of different vehicle categories:
Budget 1 (suitable for up to 2 adults which could be a B-Class or C-Medium) or Budget 2 (suitable for up to 3 adults and 2 children which could be a C-Large or C-XLarge).
Please note that families with children are not allowed to book Budget 1 because baby/child seats cannot be installed to B-Class vehicles.
The rental company will make every effort to ensure that the booked vehicle model is provided. However, it reserves the right, if due to unforeseen circumstances it has to provide either a vehicle of equal or greater value without upgrade costs if the model booked is not available for any reason. Any additional costs such as higher petrol costs or ferry crossings costs, etc will not be reimbursed. This does not enable the renter to cancel his/her booking and there are no grounds for compensation.
Even though all vehicles have similar equipment and designs, small differences in vehicle design may exist. All measurements and size indications are approximate values and are based on the information provided to us by the rental company. We cannot be held responsible for any mistakes or human error in the provision of these details. We reserve the right to make necessary changes to the information on our website at any time without prior notification.
The rental company reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee between CA$ 100 and CA$ 500 if the vehicle is returned dirty and not cleaned appropriately.
The inside of the vehicle must be cleaned before returning it and the outside must also be cleaned by hosing down the vehicle. Mosquitoes on the windshield can stay on, dirt and mud must be sprayed off. The toilet and waste water tank must be emptied or a fee (CA$ 25 per tank) will also be charged. The fuel tanks must be full, otherwise fees will be charged (CA $ 50 plus gasoline costs).
Despite regular quality control checks problems can still arise with the vehicles from time to time.
In the event of an accident, break-down, technical difficulties (including problems with tyres) you are required to inform the rental company immediately on the toll-free service line provided. A nationwide network of contracted mechanics is available in such cases. In an accident the police need to be contacted and the rental company should be informed within no longer than 24 hours. Third party demands are not to be agreed to and the police report must include the name and address of the people involved as well as any witnesses, along with all vehicle registration details.
Note: If you do not inform Meridian RV immediately about the need for a repair and if the company is not given the opportunity to help you find you a solution no compensation will be provided. If the renter informs the rental company about any vehicle problems after the vehicle has been returned, but without having informed the rental company during the rental period no insurance cover nor any compensation will be provided.
Small repairs or necessary expenses for the upkeep of the vehicle up to the value of CA$ 100 can be carried out without prior notifcation of the rental company and will be reimbursed at vehicle drop-off time. For repairs that will cost more than CA$ 100 you are required to inform the rental company before repairs take place in order to obtain their approval to proceed (otherwise no repairs will be reimbursed). Repairs can only be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt.
Pets or other animals are not allowed in the rental vehicles.
Smoking is not permitted and a penalty fee of at least CA$ 500 will be charged at drop-off.
If you plan to take your motorhome on a ferry, we strongly suggest that you book this well in advance. We recommend you book a space on the ferry for a vehicle up to 27ft in size even if you book a smaller vehicle, just in case you are upgraded at the depot to a larger vehicle. You can book the ferry trip through the Inside Passage with BC FERRIES. For information on the ferry please visit BC FERRIES, where you can also make a direct booking.
All information provided has been put together by us (Motorhome Bookers Ltd) in as much detail as possible and on the basis of the information made available to us. This information has been taken from the rental company's conditions which they have provided to us. Any additional conditions are included in the rental agreement which is entered into by yourself and the rental company. You will receive the complete list of rental conditions with your rental agreement, which you sign when you collect your vehicle. We cannot accept responsibility for any differences that come to light between our list of conditions and those of the rental company.
The rental company Fraserway reserves the right to refuse, in exceptional cases, service (e.g. if they believe that the renter is not able, due to his physical condition, to participate in the road traffic).
Transfers from/to airport hotels and downtown hotels are not included in the standard rental rates. Transfers from/to hostels, private residences etc. are not possible. Please find a transfer hotel list here.
